Terms & Conditions

Horizontal rule

These terms and conditions shall be deemed to be incorporated in the contract between Galt Educational and the UK customer. They apply only to UK customers (including Channel Islands and BFPO's).

Descriptions
Galt tries to ensure that illustrations and descriptions within the catalogue and on the website are accurate (E&OE). However we are continually improving designs and specifications and items may therefore not correspond exactly to the catalogue/website details. If any substituted products are not acceptable we will gladly issue a full credit, providing prior authorisation is obtained (see Return of Goods section) and the goods are returned in an as-new re-saleable condition.

Prices
This catalogue supersedes all previous editions. The prices are net and correct as at 1st January 2009 (errors and omissions excepted). Every effort will be made to hold prices for the life of the catalogue but they may be subject to change. We must accept orders at prices ruling at date of despatch. Prices reduced/held compares the 2009 Galt catalogue price to the 2008 catalogue price. Price comparisons for Galt Easy Access Furniture are based on main edition catalogue prices only for 2009.

Value Added Tax
Prices shown in this catalogue do not include VAT, which will be charged at the current rate at the time of despatch (Educational Authorities will credit LEA schools with the whole of the tax paid on receipt of the appropriate forms).

Availability
Goods in the catalogue and on the website are subject to availability. If the item is out of stock we will advise you and work to supply the item as soon as possible. Occasionally goods will be discontinued for reasons beyond our control. Where a print error has occurred, we reserve the right to withdraw the item.

Payment/Credit
When credit is given, payment for goods supplied is due within 30 days from the invoice date

Galt reserves the right to charge interest at 8% above Bank of England base rate on all overdue amounts, and the customer will be liable for all legal costs.

New Customers/Non Account Holders
Products can be supplied on a cash or cheque with order basis, or through major credit cards. 30 days free credit can be given to approved account holders subject to status. A credit reference agency may be consulted.

Passing of Property
The risk in the goods supplied shall pass to the buyer on delivery into the buyer's possession, or to the carrier or place of delivery nominated by the buyer, and Galt shall be under no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage occurring thereafter.

Title of Goods
Upon full payment of the appropriate invoice, ownership (title) of the goods will pass to the purchaser.

Carriage Packaging and Handling (UK Mainland)
Free carriage is applicable to all orders over £300 (exc VAT), and charged at £4.95 for orders less than £300 (exc VAT). A small handling charge of £2 will be added to all orders under the value of £50 (exc VAT).

Express Delivery Service (UK Mainland)
Our Express Delivery Service can be requested on all telephone and fax orders before 11am. So long as your item is in stock, we can organise for it to be put on a 48 hour delivery service once it has been despatched. This service costs £9.95 (exc VAT) no matter how large your order. NB. We regret that express delivery is not available for furniture, direct delivery or larger items. Express Delivery is not available for orders placed on the website.

Direct Delivery
Certain items are delivered direct with care from the manufacturer and are indicated by the Direct Delivery logo. Direct delivery items come separately from other orders and may take between 4 - 8 weeks to arrive.

Delivery
For all Galt items that are in stock at time of order please allow 5 - 7 working days for delivery. Galt accepts no liability for any loss, damages or expenses arising from the late delivery of goods by itself, its agents or its agent's carriers due to any cause whatsoever. Any delivery time, despatch or delivery date which Galt may specify is a best estimate and should not be relied upon. Galt will however, seek to achieve delivery dates specified as far as it is within its power to do so. Please note that with furniture and other large items the price quoted is for delivery to ground floor. An additional charge may be levied by direct suppliers for deliveries within a specified timeframe e.g. 9am - 1pm. Should you have a particular delivery requirement please enquire before placing your order.

Proof of Delivery
For 90 days from the date on the invoice, a signed proof of delivery document will be available from Galt. After this time, Galt may decline such request for proof of delivery or charge to supply a copy. After this period the buyer will be liable for payment of the goods supplied.

Damaged Goods and Claims
If on arrival your products are damaged, incomplete, incorrect or short delivered notification must be made within 5 working days of delivery. For goods that aren't delivered, notification should be made within 7 days of the invoice date. Claims outside this period will not be accepted. You need to gain prior authorisation before returning your goods and must quote your account number and relevant reference number.

Refused Deliveries
For any deliveries that are refused without reason, we reserve the right to charge you for delivery, plus an additional 20% handling charge, or minimum of £10 whichever is greater.

Return of Goods
Galt product guarantees refer to the quality, durability and relative fitness for purpose during the first 12 months after delivery. Any products returned will be assessed by our Quality Assurance department before any compensation is given. If we find no fault with the item(s) then no refund will be issued and we reserve the right to charge a 20% handling fee, or minimum of £10 whichever is greater, plus recover any delivery charges incurred.

If an item is faulty, Galt reserves the right to repair or replace. If this is not possible, a credit will be issued.

Items deemed no longer required due to ordering error or surplus to requirements, may be considered for return providing prior authorisation is obtained and goods are returned in a re-saleable condition, in the original packaging and within the first calendar month following dispatch. Notification should be within 5 days of delivery and where authorisation is obtained a 20% handling charge or minimum of £10 whichever is greater will be charged. Galt will not accept returned goods without prior authorisation or in a non saleable condition - in such cases goods must be paid for in full by the customer and the standard handling fee (above) will be charged along with any delivery fees incurred.

For special orders or direct delivery, it may not be possible to return goods and Galt will invoice the full amount.

Force Majeure
Galt shall not be obliged to the buyer for failure to perform or delay in performing any contractual obligations when caused by situations beyond their reasonable control.

Recording calls
Calls may be recorded and monitored to improve the service offered or for training purposes.

Data Protection
Galt is a registered data user under the Data Protection Act. We never make your personal details available to other companies for marketing purposes other than for the marketing of Galt's goods and services. We (and our parent company) may hold your personal details in order to process your order and/or maintain your account. We (and our parent company) may also use your details to send you further information on Galt's goods and services, to keep you up to date on goods, services, new products, and promotional offers you may be interested in or for research purposes. The United Kingdom is under an obligation to minimise the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), and to encourage recycling, recovery and environmentally sound disposal methods, Galt Educational is committed to promoting the re-use, recycling and recovery of WEEE products by contributing to the VALPAK compliance scheme. 10 Year Guarantee
We have selected products and ranges which have an extended guarantee of 10 years. These are indicated by the 10 Year Guarantee logo and it applies to functional furniture. It specifically relates to the quality of the wood, hinges and lock, and excludes ancillary items such as trays and moving parts (castors). Please note that the same items from previous years may not have been covered by the guarantee at that time.
